Sisters Art in the Park Comes Alive June 10 & 11, 2017
Springtime east of the Cascade Crest blossoms this June 10th and 11th. Certainly, the warming days and abundant sunshine makes this rodeo weekend Sisters Art in the Park special. Equally, the towering Ponderosa pines in the Creekside Park form a cathedral-like beauty over the artisan booths. Across the footbridge from the park is the Sister’s Campground; in addition, just east on Highway 20 is the rodeo grounds. The art show hosts local artists in a most relaxed atmosphere. The quaking aspens are at their brightest green; besides this, the smell of the pines and sagebrush refresh the spirit. It is a miracle to encounter such a glorious place within a three hours drive of Portland.
Central Oregon Shows Provide a Home for Art Exhibitors
Richard Esterman and his company Central Oregon Shows is the promoter of Art in the Park (http://www.centraloregonshows.com/). Notably, his company organizes over a dozen art shows in and around the Sisters area. However, We have only exhibited once at Art in the Park. Unfortunately, that year an equine virus scare cancelled many events at the Rodeo. Obviously, art show attendance was low. Undoubtedly, as a photographer / exhibitor himself, Esterman knows what matters in show planning. I particularly like that vendor fees support the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Oregon.
My Further Ramblings
Most exhibitors are strongly opinionated about favorite shows. Commute distance ranks high on the critical list; fortunately, for us, Sisters and Mill City are only 70 miles apart. Esterman excels as an organizer and, equally important, Creekside Park access is very convenient. This winter has been one of the wettest on record in the Willamette Valley. By June we will all be ready to dry out. Please visit us June 10th or 11th in Space #52. You are sure to be captured with the magic that is Sisters.
